Disco Dholki
The dholki, a cherished pre-wedding tradition, provided me with the opportunity to plan a unique celebration for my childhood friend. Embracing both my American and Pakistani roots, I introduced the concept of a "disco dholki." This innovative event brought together nostalgia for our parents' youth and a taste of Pakistani disco culture. Adorned in shades of blue, silver, and tinsel, the evening resonated with joy and cultural fusion.
I first created a mood board on Pinterest with all the visions I had before narrowing it down. I also hired a photographer and gave them my vision of the photos I wanted. This idea of a flashy, Studio 54-esq vision came to mind. Below you can see the photos from the event.
I believe the mood of an event is greatly dictated by the music. I worked on this playlist for weeks curating the vibe I had in mind. I did not want to limit myself and others around me to music from the 70s Pakistan scene, instead, the music dates from the 70s to the present day. I did keep in mind the music 70s onwards would have to give off inspiration from the disco era and even included American and British music. (Click on the photo to take you to the playlist)

I used Canva to create invites as well as blow up this image and use it for the gift table. I later gifted the couple with a framed version.
